![]() I wore it hiking up to three miles and had no issues. Switch it back to shoe mode by flipping the heel up, then wear it any place you would wear a sneaker. So the Moc not only performs well around town but over trail too.Ī collapsible heel invites you to wear it as a slipper for short walks to the mailbox or hopping out of the tent for a quick pee in the middle of the night. And it sports a treaded rubber outsole and EVA foam midsole. The upper has ripstop polyester and suede construction. The Ember Moc looks like the Love Child of a quilted sleeping bag and a sneaker. Anyone looking for a more comfortable, capable way to get from the door to an adventure, from car to tent, or from tent to lake should keep reading. In short: All the lazy ease of a slipper with just enough muscle in the upper and the tread make the Ember Moc a compelling addition to the active person’s shoe collection. The shoe (slipper?) is perfect for campgrounds, backcountry huts, short hikes, casual nights out, road trips, flights, or a quick run to the grocery store.Īfter more than six months of near-constant use, I feel confident proclaiming the Ember Moc is the future of basecamp footwear. But for what it sets out to be – cozy and versatile, with a touch of style – the Teva’s Ember Moc is nearly perfect. And it’s not for every trip, so high-alpine projects are out. We reviewed it outside, inside, and around town. Back in the box they go.Part sneaker, part puffy, Teva’s Ember Moc may soon be part of many campers’ gear collections. And I don't know how I'd even make it through a break-in period, because my feet are seriously in pain. The cute ribbed band that you see at the top of the shoe does stretch, but there is a much more rigid structural band just behind it. Maybe if I broke them in a little, the band that crosses the top of the foot would loosen up a bit, but there doesn't seem to be much give there. The toe box is perfect, so if I tried going up another size I'd end up with clown shoes. The sole is so narrow in the back that as I walked around the house (with the heel part up), both feet kept slipping off to the side. As I type this, I am wearing a pair of size 9 ReEmbers that I could barely get on because the band across the foot is so tight. My normal size is 8-1/2 medium, I have a couple of pairs of size 8 Teva sandals, but decided to size up to make sure I'd have room for thick socks. These are perhaps the most uncomfortable things I have ever had on my feet. I love that I can wear them both indoors and outdoors and the insides are soft and cozy. They looked cozy, I loved the fact that they can be worn with the heel up or down, and I figured I couldn't go wrong with Teva. These are surprisingly light for having soles. I have been looking for some comfortable cold weather house shoes that can be worn outside, and was excited to find these. The half size up is perfect for at home, running quick errands like taking out the trash, and for car camping I'd recommend sizing up if you're between sizes! Unless you are planning on wearing them around town more often or if you want them to fit like socks. They are relaxed fitting and I can still wear socks. I wish they were a teensy bit smaller but think the 8's would be too snug. I have about a thumbs space between my big toe and the front of the shoe when my foot is pushed all the way back. However I wear size 8's in chacos and teva sandals because I don't like the extra bulk and the 9's have too much extra space. I have a normal width foot (maybe a tiny bit on the wide side) and wear 9-9.5 in running and hiking shoes. I struggled with sizing though because I'm a true 8.5. ![]() These are surprisingly light for having soles.
